Mr. Jimmy Dewayne Parks

Jimmy Dewayne Parks, passed away at his home in Grant, Alabama on Friday, February 7, 2020. He was 52 years old. He is survived by his son, Jimmy Dalton Parks; his mother, Judie Dennis Parks; and his extended family, the Morris Wilbanks family; and many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Clyde Park; paternal grandparents, Inez & Magness Parks; maternal grandparents, Frank & Lora Dennis; aunt, Charlotte Parks; aunt, Charlene Dennis Hollis; and uncle, Melvin Dennis. Dewayne graduated from Kate Duncan Smith DAR High School in 1985. He then went on to work with his father in their family business, Parks’ & Son Trucking. He truly enjoyed his life driving trucks, and operating heavy machinery and equipment. He was always cutting up and making jokes to bring others joy and to make them laugh. He had one of the biggest hearts and loved helping others. He was always a very hard-working man and would do whatever it took to provide for his family. He loved spending time with family and friends, travelling and serving God while attending Goosepond Church of God. He enjoyed making new friends in which he never met a stranger and valued his friendship he had acquired over the years, keeping in touch with them on a regular basis. Dewayne loved his family more than anything in this world and his mother and son were his life. He was so proud of his son, Dalton, and all the accomplishments he had achieved throughout his childhood into adulthood. He was always bragging on him and wanted everyone to know how amazing his son was. He was a proud father. He was also very appreciative of his mom and vowed to take care of her after his father Jimmy Clyde Parks passed away. We all have learned so many valuable lessons from him and he became a walking miracle and testimony to all who knew him. As we look back on his life, including the ups and downs, it reminds us of the caterpillar. As a caterpillar matures in its cocoon, forming into something so perfect and beautiful, when its ready to fly and soar the beautiful sky, the cocoon then opens up and that mature butterfly, once a simple caterpillar spreads its wings to fly. This in our hears represents what Dewayne has become over all the years and we have been blessed to have called you a son, father, and friend. We will love you always. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Friday, February 14, 2020 at Grant Memorial Chapel, and again from 12-2 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2020 at Grant Memorial Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2020 at Free Home Cemetery. Pastor Jerry Cornelison of Goosepond Church of God will officiate.
