Mr. Roy C. Guffey

Early Thursday morning Roy Cranford Guffey finished his course on this earth at Huntsville Hospital. He was 83 years old. Roy was born, raised, and lived his entire life around the Swearengin Community of Marshall County. He was born on July 31, 1940 to J.D. & Birdie Walls Guffey and married Faye Cameron on November 16, 1959, spending 63 years together until she passed away just six months and two days before. A fixture in the community, Roy was known for always helping people-whether it was at the store, out mowing yards, or just offering a kind word or his signature smile and laugh. He was also a lifelong member of the Oak Grove Holiness Church, the place where he received the Holy Ghost in July of 1976. For many years he served as a song leader in the church. He lived his life with great hope and anticipation of being welcomed into Heaven with the words “well done, my child.” Roy was a loving husband, father, papa, and brother. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Joan & Bill Stapler, Jr.; son & daughter-in-law, Stevie & Kelli Guffey; grandchildren, Coty & Megan Stapler, Ryan & Brenda Guffey, Amber Guffey, and Anna Stapler; great grandchildren, Emma Guffey, Joel Guffey, and Laken Guffey; his sisters, Jane & Eskill Dotson and Carolyn Brown; bonus grandchild, Tyler McLain and his family; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Cameron Guffey; and parents, J.D. & Birdie Walls Guffey. Visitation for Roy will be held at Grant Memorial Chapel on Saturday, September 16, 2023 from 5-8 p.m. The family will also receive friends at Grant Memorial Chapel on Sunday, September 17, 2023 from 12-2 p.m. His funeral service will be at the Grant Memorial Chapel on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at 2 p.m. Bro. Barry Pritchett, Bro. Nicky Willmon and Bro. Alton Willmon will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Kenny Dotson, Marcus Dotson, Kevin Dotson, Dereck Rice, Luke Willmon, and Brody Pritchett. All the members of the Oak Grove Holiness Church will be honorary pallbearers. Burial will follow the service in the Gunter Mountain Memory Garden. Arrangements Entrusted to Grant Memorial Chapel
