Mr. Charles H. "Charlie" Ayers, Jr.

November 28, 1962 - October 21, 2020

Mr. Charles H. Ayers, Jr., better known to everyone as Charlie, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at Shepherd’s Cove at the age of 57. Charlie was born on November 28, 1962 in Guntersville to Charles Henry Ayers, Sr. and Doris Franks Ayers. A lifelong resident of Grant, he worked for Kennamer Brothers Trucking for 25 years. Always active in his community, Charlie served in the United States Air Force, was a volunteer fireman, a member of the Grant Town Council, and coached various sports for his children as they grew up. Charlie, a man of faith, was also very involved in New Life United Methodist Church in Grant. After becoming a member in 1993, he served as a lay leader for approximately 10 years. He is survived by his wife, Greta Knight Ayers; his son, Charles Henry Ayers, III; his two daughters, Laura Grace Ayers and Hannah Elizabeth Ayers; his two sisters, Kathy Giles and her husband Mike, and Patty Rice and her husband Johnny; his aunts, Judy Franks and Betty Walls; his uncles, Garland Franks and Orville Ayers; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. A celebration of his life will be held at New Life United Methodist Church in Grant at 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2020. The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until the time of service. The family will accept flowers or donations may be made to New Life United Methodist Church and/or Shepherd’s Cove Hospice. The family asks for those who attend to please follow the current guidelines regarding masks and social distancing. Arrangements Entrusted to Grant Memorial Chapel
