Mrs. Sue R. Foster

Sue Foster, age 87, slipped away from her family peacefully Sunday evening February 13th at the Barfield Nursing Home. Sue Randolph Foster was born August 2, 1934-the only daughter of Lillian Randolph Birdwell. She was born in Alabama and raised in the Claysville community. She was married to Hoyt Gene Foster until his death in 1973. They had five sons. Sue loved being called Mama Sue, not only by her sons, but also by their friends. She was a lunchroom worker at DAR High School and was later employed at Teledyne Firth Sterling until she retired in 1999. Sue was very family oriented and loved taking care of her family. Whenever anyone mentioned the word “go,” Mama Sue was always ready. She enjoyed spending time with her friends, shopping, and traveling. Later when she entered Barfield Nursing Home, she always looked forward to playing Bingo and doing her word puzzles. Visits from her sister-in-law, Mary Rose Phillips, were the highlights of her week. As well as seeing family and friends. She especially loved to hear about and see her newest grands! She grew to love many of the employees at Barfield and they in return, loved her. The family would like to express their appreciation to all the employees for the loving care that they gave to her while she was there. Sue is survived by her sons, Gary Foster (Gelisa), Dale Foster, Mike Foster (Glenda), and Bo Foster; her daughter-in-law, Barbara Foster; her sister-in-law, Mary Rose Phillips; nine grandchildren, Samuel Foster, Justin Foster, Cain Foster, Nathan Foster, Austin Foster, Tracie Ezell, Felicia Foster, Elizabeth Foster, and Mikal Foster; twelve great grandchildren, Tevin, Gabe, Trey, Matthew, Tyler, Ashlynn, AJ, Rosalee, Ryder, Tyson, Karson, and Sloan; one great great grandchild, Coleson; and her niece, Sandy Turner. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lillian Birdwell; her husband, Hoyt Gene Foster; her son, Ronald Foster; and a great granddaughter, Abigail Rose Hicks. Friends may visit with the family from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Grant Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. The burial will be in Old Union Cemetery in Grant. Arrangements Entrusted to Grant Memorial Chapel
