Mr. Victor Joseph Held Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Victor Joseph Held of Grant, AL was born May 8, 1947, in Rockville Centre, NY, and departed this life June 3, 2022, at age of 75 due to medical complications. He was a proud graduate of Saint Leo College in Dade City, FL, and also obtained his masters degree in Administration from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL. A teacher by trade, he was a special education leader and guidance counselor for over thirty years and positively impacted the lives of so many students, friends and family. He enjoyed fishing, boating, snorkeling and watching wildlife. He loved the beach, listening to the oldies, driving in his van, watching fishing shows on TV and telling jokes. He always had a dog as a companion and buddy. He enjoyed getting together with his Saint Leo Alumni pals, affectionately known as "the Geezers". Most of all he loved his family and being a grandpa. He probably attended more dance recitals, pre-K through college graduations, basketball games, softball games, football games, soccer games, and baseball games (for the players and the cheerleaders), homecoming parades, special events and award nights, horse rodeo shows and birthday parties than most grandparents could ever imagine. He could always be counted on when you really needed love, support or guidance. His sense of humor, love and laughter at family events and celebrations will be dearly missed. His one liners such as "Forget About It", "I Know a Guy", "Roll Tide" and many others as well as the nicknames he gave to so many will always be remembered. His good nature and kind heart will carry on in all of us that knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by his father John Thomas Held, mother Evelyn Gertrude Klebaur Held, brother John F. Held, and nephews Warren "Buddy" Jacobs and Johnny Held. He is survived by his four daughters and their families: Carrie Ann Myers of Grant, AL (husband Ronnie Myers) with Leeann Myers and R.J. Myers; Tori Held of Orlando, FL with Haley Watson and Kayla Watson; Heather Fox of Blairsville, GA with Liam Green, Lordus Green, Luka Windsor and Lassiter Windsor; and Katie Allen of Scottsboro, AL (husband Jayson Allen) with Keegan Allen, Kennedy Allen, Kassidy Allen and Kaleb Allen. He also is survived by his two sisters, Ann Jacobs (husband Warren Jacobs) of Oceanside, NY and Patricia DiFabbio (husband Frank DiFabbio) of New Rochelle, NY, niece Lyn Held Giorandino with daughters Lauren Swenson (husband Tommy Swenson) with son Lennox Swenson and Kristina Giorandino; niece Rose Ott (husband Frank Ott) with Devon Barilli (husband Mike Barilli), Frank Ott and Chloe Ott; nephew Ray Jacobs (wife Meredith Jacobs) with Sara Jacobs and Abby Jacobs; and nephew Bill Jacobs (wife Michelle Jacobs) with Julia Jacobs and Jack Jacobs. He gave so much in life, and was an organ donor in the end. His family will celebrate his life in a private event.
