Ms. Leigh Ann Geckles

Leigh Ann Geckles of Guntersville Alabama passed away January 3, leaving behind a legacy of generosity, curiosity, and deep love for her family. Leigh Ann truly had a heart of gold. She spent most of her life helping others, often in quiet ways that never sought attention. For 14 years alongside her husband Rick, they owned and operated the Claysville Snack Bar, where she was known not just for feeding people but for feeding them freely when they were in need. No one left her presence hungry, in any sense of the word. She loved the ocean and felt most at peace near the water. She also cherished the outdoors, enjoying hiking and searching for arrowheads and artifacts with her dear friend Kenny, always curious about the stories hidden beneath the surface. Family was central to Leigh Ann’s life. She loved her family fiercely and showed that love through action. She was especially devoted to helping her Mama, always ready to lend a hand. If she didn’t know how to fix something, she would figure it out, often teaching herself through sheer determination and a little help from YouTube. Leigh Ann had a special place in her heart for her dog, Bogie, who was her constant companion and dearly loved. She will be remembered for her kindness, resourcefulness, and willingness to help others. Leigh Ann’s life was a testament to love in action, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Ms. Geckles is survived by her mother, Trish Geckles; sisters, Shae Bedwell (Garrett Covington) and Christy Cox; brothers, Michael Geckles and Daniel Cox; special friend, Kenny Davison; step-mother, Judy Martin; special aunt, Wilda Smith; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members. She was preceded in death by her father, Norman Geckles; husband, Rick Atchley; and grandparents, Junior & Dorothy Pence and Albert & Thelma Geckles. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at Claysville Holiness Church with Bro. Michael O’Neal officiating. Burial will follow in Old Prospect Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at Grant Memorial Chapel.
