Mrs. Michele Lynn Atchley

Mrs. Michele Lynn Atchley passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Barfield Health Care. Mrs. Atchley was 52 years old. Visitation will be on Saturday, January 7, 2017, from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at the Grant First Baptist Church CLC (Christian Life Center). Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the sanctuary at Grant First Baptist Church with Bro. Steve Stanfield officiating. Interment will be at Free Home Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Zane Troxtel, Trent Lemaster, Easton Jones, Brayden James, Lauden James, Walter Brooks Barfield. Honorary pallbearers will be Shawn Troxtel, Carl Barfield, Don Campbell and Kyle Martin. Mrs. Michele Barfield Atchley was born at Caraway Methodist Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama on June 7, 1964. At age 2 she moved to Grant, AL where her father, Brooks Barfield, purchased and operated Grant Pharmacy. She attended D.A.R. Elementary and High School. On May 16, 1987, she graduated from Samford University with a B.S.in Pharmacy. She married Wendell Atchley on January 8, 1988 and welcomed a son, Ryan Michael, on June 28, 1992. Upon graduation from Samford University, Michele started working as a Pharmacist for her Dad at Grant Pharmacy. She also served as Pharmacy Consultant for Barfield Healthcare. Michele spent 30 years serving the Grant Community. She was grateful for the love and friendship shown to her by her customers and staff during those years. Michele was a member of the Grant First Baptist Church. She enjoyed her involvement with the Awana Program, the Youth Program and for several years she taught the "Women of Faith" Sunday School class. This class and its members brought great joy and peace. Michele will be missed by many and remembered as a caring and committed person who served her community as a trusted pharmacist. Michele is survived by her husband, Wendell Atchley. A son, Ryan (Jenna) Atchley. Parents: Brooks and Naomi Barfield and Paula Campbell. Sisters, Stephanie Ann Barfield, Natalie Renee' Barfield and Nicole Leigh Jones. Nephews, Shawn Troxtel, Zane Troxtel, Trent Lemaster, Easton Jones, Brayden James, Lauden James, Luke Atchley, Terry Atchley, Jr., and Myles Atchley. Nieces: Brooke Danielle Lemaster, Lindsey Atchley and Taylor Atchley. Michele is preceded in death by her grandparents, Elmer and Eleanor Barfield and Pinky and Say Campbell.
